You just have to TELL them.

So if your baby's not walking by 18 months, you have to take them to see a specialist. Ain't nobody got time for that.

And, ok, so Morgan and I are the make-your-own-baby-food kind of mothers, but not the ask-your-baby-for-permission-before-you-pick-her-up kind, BUT when Jess wasn't sleeping through the night, Morgan finally had a TALK with her about it, and then Jess went ahead and slept through. So I sat down with Eleanor on Saturday and explained to her that she is big now, and that it's time for her to walk. So she went ahead and did.

Morgan and I are going to write a book. (We're not sure what to do with pages 2 through 195, though.)

Somehow, discovering that she could walk has set off some sort of BOLDNESS gene in her brain. There's a lot more of this in my life in the past three days:

Haha yup! Me too! "And, ok, so Morgan and I are the make-your-own-baby-food kind of mothers, but not the ask-your-baby-for-permission-before-you-pick-her-up kind..."

Also, the one thing that people totally blow me off when I tell them to try it, is acknowledging their children's feelings. Like, "I know you're frustrated because you want some water, and I would get it for you if I could, but I'm driving right now and I'll get it for you as soon as we stop." This calms Ethan down pretty much all the time, making his tantrums not that bad. I'm not saying having a two year old is easy (it's totally fucking hard), but it's way easier when their tantrum is, like, 10 seconds.

Of course she speaks purposely and clearly better than any 18 month old I ever had. Is there a specialist for that too?

"Muchroom!" is adorable. Right up there with my 14-month-old saying strawberry, which is closely realized as "bahbear!" and stroller ("dro-drer!").

Congrats on the walker.

Go, Eleanor! She's so awesome! I had no idea she wasn't walking yet. And now she is. :-)
